Background: I graduated from Osseo Senior High School. I was inspired by many teachers including my high school science teachers, Mr. Lindquist and Mr. Netland. After high school I enlisted in the United States Navy in the Nuclear Propulsion Program. In this program I went through two years of extensive training to learn how to operate nuclear reactors. Then it was off to the fleet where I served aboard the USS Arkansas for four years. I was stationed out of Alameda NAS in the San Francisco Bay. During this time I had the opportunity to travel to many interesting places such as Hawaii, Asia, and the Middle East. After I received my honorable discharge I attended Saint Cloud State University. I was involved in Student Government in various roles including Judicial Council, Chief Justice, Legislative Affairs Coordinator, and Senator. I worked closely with the Athletic Director to pass an athletic referendum that allows all students to attend athletic events for free. I was awarded the SCSU Award for Excellence in Leadership and graduated with honors. My degree is in Physical Sciences, which includes Physics and Chemistry.
Professional Experience: I have been teaching Physics and Chemistry at Osseo High School for 10 years. My courses this year include HP Physics hours 5 and 6 all year, Medical Physics hour 1 and 2 all year, and Astronomy hour 3 or 4. I am recently completed my Masters Degree through Walden University. My emphasis was Integrating Technology in the Classroom. I recently was named a 2009 TIES Exceptional Teacher. Hobbies and Interests: This will be my 9th year coaching the sophomore girls soccer team and my FIRST year coaching ROBOTICS. You will also see me on the sideline on Friday night's helping the football team. I also enjoy announcing for basketball and baseball. Away from school I enjoy playing fantasy sports (particularly baseball), watching movies, and cooking. |
